- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1–1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp dried basil (optional)
- 1/3 cup oil for frying
Instructions
- Place salt, basil, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Boil water, pour it into the bowl. The leavening agent will begin to foam.
- Add the sifted flour in batches. Knead the dough first with a spoon, then with your hands. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky. Cover with clingfilm and leave the dough for 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle a little flour on a board. Divide the dough into 1.5-inch balls. Roll each ball into a 6- to 7-inch-diameter cake.
- To keep the dough thin, make incisions as in the photo with a pizza cutter.
- Heat the oil in a skillet and place a flatbread. Fry on both sides until browned, about half a minute each.
- Transfer the fried bread to a wire rack and cool slightly. stack the tortillas and serve for breakfast.
