Twist on the Traditional “Puppy Chow” Recipe
Ingredients

- 9 cups rice chex cereal
- 1–2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 c. coconut oil at room temperature
- gallon or larger zip lock bag
- 1–2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup of almonds whole
- 1 cup of shaved coconut
- Almond Joy fun size candy bars
Instructions
- Measure the rice chex cereal in to a large bowl and set aside.
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 minute.
- Stir and then add room temperature coconut oil.
- Stir and place back into the microwave for about thirty seconds. Don’t cook it too long, avoid scorching. You can always melt it a few more seconds as needed.
- Stir well. Using the coconut oil creates a thinner constancy. Add more melted chocolate if too thin.
- Pour chocolate mixture little by little as needed into bowl with chex and stir until completely covered. You may not need the entire amount.
- Next, place powdered sugar in the zip lock bag and add the chocolate covered chex. Close and seal tight and shake till covered completely.
- Remove and place in serving bowl or pan.
- The next step is what makes this recipe really Almond Joy flavored. Add your whole almonds and shaved coconut to the puppy chow. I recommend starting with a cup of each . But, you can add as much as you like.
- Mix well.
- If desired add fun size Almond Joy candy bars on top!
