Natural Sugar Pecan Pie
Are you looking for a recipe for natural sugar pecan pie instead of corn syrup and bleached white sugar? If so, read on!
I made pecan pie for the first time this Thanksgiving. I was quite amazed at how easy they are to make. And quite frankly shocked at the amount of sugar they contain. I have a sweet tooth as much as the next gal, but I gave up white sugar a while back. Could I still make pecan pie with an alternative to corn syrup? I found my answer in light agave nectar. And instead of white, bleached sugar, I use organic or raw. My concern: Would it still come out right?
It sure did!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare single crust pastry. Layer pecans in pie pastry and reserve some for the top. Melt butter.
Combine eggs, agave nectar, sugar, melted butter and vanilla in a bowl. Mix well.
Pour sugar mixture over pecans in pie pastry. Top with remaining pecans.
Bake for 45 minutes or until set at 350 degrees.
I have been looking for a natural sugar pecan pie recipe for ages now. I’m from the south and spent most of my holiday meals enjoying these. Since moving up north and changing our diets I’ve rarely made one because of the corn syrup. Thank you so much for posting this!
