Summertime Watermelon Slush

Sharing is caring!

When it’s hot outside and you need something refreshing for the family, head to the kitchen with your kids to make a sweet and icy watermelon slush!

This recipe is a fun collaboration between parents and kids. Moms and dads, you’ll want to be in charge of using the big knife and the blender while your kids cut up the watermelon with a butter knife and squeeze the limes.

Watermelon Slush

Ingredients for Watermelon Slush

  • 4 cups seedless watermelon
  • 4 cups crushed ice
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar or agave

Directions for Watermelon Slush

Parents: Slice the watermelon into wedges.

Kids: Wash your hands. Cut the rind off the watermelon, and then cut the melon into cubes with a butter knife. If you happen to have purple stains on your hand you’ll match my son (He sure enjoys making crafts!).  😉

Parents: Slice lime in half if using fresh juice.

Kids: Squeeze your lime to get all the juice out of it. If you don’t have fresh limes, bottled lime juice will work.

Both: Taste test to see if you think your slush needs some sugar or agave. Add it if needed and blend some more.

Relax together and enjoy your icy cold watermelon slushes!

Bonus: We discovered that we can use leftovers as watermelon shaved ice. Just pour what’s left into a container and freeze. Then when you want shaved ice, scrape a spoon across the top to “shave” it. Yum!

This fun and easy recipe serves four people.
