Summer Snack Ideas Round Up

Summer is almost here, and that means many families will be taking time off from homeschooling to enjoy lazy days, vacations, swimming, trips to the beach or the zoo, and lots of other fun summertime activities. At my house, my teens seem to always be hungry! During the summer, though, it seems that they are even hungrier than usual. I think swimming and other outside activities make them hungry, and sometimes that means feeding half the neighborhood when the neighborhood kids are out of school too.

So that made me think about sharing some posts with some healthy snack ideas as well as some less healthy treats that I occasionally serve during those hot summer days. I hope you find some snacks and treats that your family enjoys!

Confessions of a Homeschooler shared a post with Healthy Snacks for Kids. Most of these are super quick and easy too!

Our very own Brenda with Hip Homeschool Moms posted on her own site, Schooling a Monkey, this article with 101 Healthy Snack Ideas for Kids.



The Unlikely Homeschool has some great ideas for healthy homemade snacks in Top 10 School Day Snacks for Homeschool. These ideas work not only for school days, but they’re also great suggestions for days when you have a little more time to prepare and want to have snacks you can serve your kiddos without feeling guilty!

Teach Beside Me included both quick and easy store-bought snack ideas as well as some simple recipes for Healthy Snacks for Kids.

HHM team member Heidi posted this super-yummy-looking recipe for Auntie’s Oatmeal Cookies! These look perfect for a time when you want to share a little treat with your children or the neighborhood kids.



Kitschy Homeschool shared a post with some yummy recipe ideas for both snacks and sweets! It’s simply called Snacks & Desserts.

Healthy Homeschool Snacks was shared by Real Life at Home. It includes a few simple and healthy ideas.

The Healthy & Fit Homeschool Mom featured a post with ideas for How to Plan Your Snacks. I know meals are much easier with a little pre-planning, and snacks can be simplified too!

Another Hip Homeschool Moms team member, Durenda, posted her favorite Yummy Granola Bars recipe.  This is great for when you can plan ahead.

Raising Lifelong Learners featured a post with Creative Snack Ideas for Kids. Even if you have picky little ones, you’ll find something they’ll love in this post!


Jill, HHM writer and owner of Jill’s Home Remedies, shared a recipe for Homemade Granola Cereal. This would make a great breakfast or snack.

Another HHM team member. Sarah from My Joy-Filled Life, recently wrote 30+ Filling Snacks for Growing Kids. You’ll definitely want to take a look at her suggestions!
