A cat in the hat pizza is easy to make, and the kids in your life will love feeling like chefs as they recreate the infamous hat of one of the most iconic Dr. Suess characters: the cat in the hat! We suggest whipping this up for dinner and reading the book to your children while it bakes in the oven.

How to Make Cat in the Hat Pizza

Note: To make this pizza recipe super quick and easy, we suggest using pre-made Pillsbury dough that you can buy in the can from the store. If you’re gluten-free, you may also want to try this mix for gluten-free pizza dough

Before you start working on your pizza, go ahead and get prepped. This means preheating your oven to 400 degrees. You’ll also want to prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper (unless you are using a pizza stone). You may also want to flour your surface for working with the sticky pizza dough.

Next, you’ll take your prepared pizza dough and divide it into two pieces: one piece will be about 1/4 of the dough, with the other piece will make up about 3/4 of the dough.  Roll out the smaller piece into a flat, oblong shape (this will make up the brim of the hat) and then roll out the larger piece into a rectangular shape for the tall part of the hat! Make sure you roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking!

Once your shapes are finished, you’ll gently arrange them onto your pizza stone (or parchment-lined baking sheet) as shown in the picture below.

Make sure the rectangle shape is on top of the oblong shape. You will go ahead and bake the dough in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. After it’s cooked comes the super fun part: decorating! Tomato sauce, white mozzarella, and pepperoni work perfectly to recreate the infamous Cat’s hat! Your kids will have a great time with this part, too.

First, you’ll spread out a thin layer of your favorite pizza sauce over the cooked dough.

Then, you’ll cover the whole thing with delicious mozzarella cheese!

After that, use the pepperoni slices to create a striped pattern on the hat.

When you’re happy with your creation, place the cat in the hat pizza back into the oven for an additional 5 to 8 minutes, until the cheese is melted and slightly golden on top. YUM.
