With just a handful of ingredients and minimal effort, you can whip up a restaurant-quality dish right in your own kitchen. Perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or even a main course when paired with pasta or rice.
Ingredients for Garlic Butter Shrimp:
- 1 pound (about 450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions for Making Garlic Butter Shrimp:
- Prepare the Shrimp: Start by cleaning the shrimp. Peel and devein them if not already done. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Cook the Shrimp: In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the garlic becomes fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Combine Everything: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Pour in the fresh lemon juice and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss everything together gently until the shrimp are coated evenly with the garlic butter sauce. Cook for another minute or so, just until everything is heated through.
- Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve the garlic butter shrimp hot, with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of citrusy flavor.
