How to Make Baked Mac and Cheese

To begin, cook one pound of macaroni to al dente.  You can use the traditional elbow macaroni or any variation that you have on hand. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 2 cups cottage cheese, 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup milk, a dash of salt & pepper, a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. Stir those together and set aside for a moment.

In a dish, combine 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs, a bit of salt & pepper, and a tablespoon of parsley. Stir those together and pour in 3 tablespoons of melted butter. Stir them well until mixed.

When your macaroni is done cooking, drain it and add it to the bowl. Stir it all together.

Pour the pasta into a lightly greased 9×13 or equivalent baking dish. Spread it evenly.

Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the top of the dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the baked mac and cheese is lightly golden.

That’s it! Serve and enjoy! This dinner would be great with this side dish of copycat cracker barrel cole slaw, and maybe some apple spice cake for dessert.
