Saltine Toffee Ingredients:
- 1 sleeve of saltine crackers
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 bag white candy melts
- ½ bag red candy melts
- ½ bag pink candy melts
- Valentine-inspired sprinkles (red/pink/white)
How to Make Your Valentine’s Day Saltine Toffee
Step One:
Gather your ingredients and preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Then line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
Step Two:
Arrange the saltine crackers in straight lines on the prepared cookie sheet until you have covered the entire surface.
Step Three:
Place the butter and sugar in a medium saucepan.
Step Four:
Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture comes to a boil. Let it boil for 3-4 minutes.
Step Five:
Now it’s time to pour the toffee mixture over the saltines on the cookie sheet.
Step Six:
Once you’ve poured out the toffee, use a spatula to smooth it over to make sure it evenly covers the saltine crackers.
Step Seven:
Place the sheet in the preheated oven for eight minutes. While the saltines are baking, start melting the white candy melts according to the instructions on the package.
Step Eight:
When the saltines are done baking, take them out of the oven and immediately cover them with the melted white candy.
Step Nine:
Melt the pink and red candy melts in separate bowls according to the package instructions. Drop the pink and red candy melts in large dollops on top of the white candy melts.
Step Ten:
Use a spreader knife or the convex side of a large spoon to spread the pink and red candy melts as the next layer of your saltine toffee.
You can make swirls or whatever patterns you’d like. Better yet, let your kids take over this step of the Valentine’s Day saltine toffee crack preparation!
Step Eleven:
This is another step the kids will enjoy. It’s time to sprinkle Valentine’s Day-themed sprinkles over the melted candy. Use as many (or as few) sprinkles as you’d like.
Step Twelve:
Place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for 2 hours to allow the candy to set. Once set, break the toffee crack into pieces.
Step Thirteen:
Enjoy with friends, neighbors, and family!
